Everyone needs an amazing hairstylist they trust, and I make no exception with my go-to stylist and friend Pam Dioquino. Pam has been doing my cut and color for years and I always receive so many compliments and questions regarding my hair color. Read on for all of Pam’s answers to your recent hair questions plus what she sees trending this fall!
What is your hair specialty?
I specialize in dimensional color, meaning a seamless blend of both light and dark tones.
What colors did you use to create Ana’s look?
Ana is a highlight service. Her color is created by a mix of baby fine highlights around her face and painting her ends. I also create a softer root by darkening her base so her highlights grow out well and are easy to maintain.
What hair colors are trending for fall?
Lots of rich cool browns, rooted balayage and shiny hair.
What hairstyles are trending for fall?
The 90s are back! From face framing messy buns to shaggy layers, high updos, faux fringe, hair jewels, and even crimped hair.
For a brunette that wants to go blonde, how long would that take/should you break it up into multiple sessions?
It usually takes multiple sessions to get out of the brassy phase with a brunette. For anyone wanting to be 2-3 shades lighter, we take into consideration the condition of the hair. Factors such as permanent color, density, minerals, and porosity can affect lifting the color while keeping it healthy.
What shampoo do you recommend for blondes
Purple shampoo such as No. 4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo works great if the blonde is brassy.
How should you go about getting face framing highlights that are too dark fixed?
I would let it fade after a few washes. Chances are highlighting it again could cause breakage around the hairline.
What products do you recommend to extend a style?
I love using dry shampoo such as Oribe Gold Lust or Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray instead of hairspray once you achieve your desired style.
What are your go to products for keeping hair moisturized in cold weather for different hair types?
I recommend using a hair mask once a week. I love Olaplex No.8!
Best products for maintaining colored hair in the fall/winter?
Sulfate free shampoo such as Olaplex and less hair washing will help maintain your color!
How often should you get your haircut and colored to keep healthy hair?
I recommend around 6-8 weeks for most clients.
How to help prevent split ends and hair damage between appointments?
Always start with a heat protectant such as Aquage Beyond Beauty, use less heat when possible or lower heat settings in your hot tools.
