In a previous post, I shared that one of my self-care rituals is to plan trips away with my girlfriends. I recently took what my girlfriends like to call “GNO” (Girls Night Out) to Austin and Waco, Texas and had to share all the fun details with you! If you’re a fan of the Magnolia brand and Joanna Gaines, a girls weekend trip to Waco is a must. Waco is just 1.5 hours away from Austin and makes for a perfect mini getaway to both cities!

Where to Stay:

Sterling House (Steps from Magnolia Silos) – a stunningly feminine AirBnB! You’ll never want to leave.

What To Do:

Magnolia/Silos – Spend a day shopping and exploring the beautiful Magnolia grounds and silos. Eat and drink at the various food trucks, coffee shop and make sure to get the Chocolatier Cupcake (my fav!) at the Magnolia Bakery.

Where to Eat:

Magnolia Table – Make a reservation in advance at the famous restaurant established by the Gaines. (Pro Tip: It’s a separate location from the Silos and is closed on Sundays)

Twisted Root Burger – Gourmet Burgers in a relaxed but cool atmosphere with a love for Chuck Norris – you’ll see if you visit 🙂.
Papa Jacks BBQ – Off the beaten path, whole in the wall BBQ but absolutely delicious! The Mac N Cheese, Collard Greens, Sweet Potato and pecan pie were the cherry on top! (open Thurs-Sunday)

Where to Stay:

Airbnb with rooftop and sunset city views near all the fun!

What to Do:

Take an e-bike tour to get familiar with the entire city in a few fun hours!

Explore South Congress Avenue (aka SOCO)- Trendy area with lots of great restaurants, shopping, street performers and instagram worthy graffiti walls.

Where to Eat:

Torchy’s Tacos – Casual taco joint with delicious drinks, queso and tacos!

Abas – Gorgeous indoor/outdoor mediterranean restaurant you won’t want to miss. Bonus: Mood lighting, comfy couches and blankets for their outdoor dining guests.
